FAMOUS RIVERS OF UTTARAKHAND
Ganga (Bhagirathi and Alaknanda) - The Ganga River, one of India's holiest rivers, rises from Uttarakhand's Gangotri Glacier. At Devprayag, the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers converge to form the Ganga. The Ganga passes through Rishikesh and Haridwar, two locations where it is revered and draws a large number of people.
Another significant river in Uttarakhand is the Yamuna. It comes from the Gangotri Glacier system, namely the Yamunotri Glacier. The Ganga River joins the Yamuna at Allahabad (Prayagraj) after passing through the Yamunotri Valley.
One of the two major tributaries of the Ganga River is the Bhagirathi River. It rises from the Gangotri Glacier and flows across Uttarakhand's hilly terrain, passing through the revered cities of Gangotri and Uttarkashi.
The Alaknanda River is the Ganga River's other significant tributary. Additionally coming from the Gangotri Glacier, it passes through the picturesque towns and valleys of Uttarakhand, including as Joshimath and Rudraprayag. Saryu River - The Saryu River rises from the Milam Glacier in the Pithoragarh region of Uttarakhand and is a tributary of the Ghaghara River. It passes via the town of Munsyari as it runs through the picturesque Kumaon region.
